Notting
Hill Carnival 2008
London's Notting Hill Carnival is Europe's biggest and spectacular street
arts festival which has been held each August Bank Holiday since 1965.
This holiday always falls on the last weekend of August, attracting 2
to 2.5 million people with Sunday and Monday being the major Carnival
days.

It is undeniable
and figures from the Greater London Authority (interim report 2001) have
proven that the specialist DJ based sound systems have provided the biggest
attraction to Carnival attendances over the last decade. Originally back
in 1965 this event started out as an affair for the Afro Caribbean community
and has developed into what can now be described as a truly successful
multicultural event. It is the most colourful, happy, joyous and definitely
the most spectacular event in the British calendar. In Carnival terms
is second only to Rio. It's fantastic, it's vibrant, it's full of life,
it's for everyone and it's FREE!
Rapattack
is one the premier and most largest sound systems at Carnival, with highly
skilled members who feed into operational issues, liaising with the local
authorities, Metropolitan Police, the Greater London Authority amongst
other stake holders and we are currently chairing ECCA (Executive Committee
of Carnival Arts) which is a major part of the operational body that organises
the entire Carnival event as a whole.
Our
Carnival Location
This year we return to our established location on Sunday 24th and Monday
25th August (the Bank Holiday weekend) at the live open air music site
on All Saint's Road, Ladbroke Grove, London W11. This area and all activities
on this road attract a lot of hype and media attention and today remains
the epicentre of the Notting Hill Carnival. View

Rapattack
performed at their first Carnival in 1984 and became one of the founder
members of B.A.S.S. (British association of Sound Systems), which today
is the governing body and discipline which organises all 'static' sound
systems at this event. The site is officially licensed by the Royal Borough
of Kensington & Chelsea and drinks are available on site.
Listed in
official Carnival literature as one of the places to be whether you consider
yourself a party animal or simply just a good music lover, the atmosphere
is electric. Serving up a cocktail of sounds (from James Brown seventies
funk to Craig David, Akon and Madonna), it's no wonder why this site is
so popular. Special celebrity guests and exclusive performances from the
UK's top and underground DJ's are renowned. E.g. Kiss FM's DJ Karl Brown
& Radio One's Dreem Team were amongst many and in previous years performances
from the likes of Jamelia, DJ Luck and Mc Neat as well as All Saints and
Yummy Bingham
(2006) have proved to be a smash. If you love music, this site is for
you. Whether it be the cross section of people and celebrities mingling
in the open air crowd or reminiscing to your favourite golden oldies on
the amazing 30,000watt stereo digital sound system once you experience
Rapattack at Carnival you're hooked. It is only then that you will appreciate
why people come from all over Europe and return to this site year after
year.
This
years DJ's and performances
As usual our regular team of DJ's is headed by the brilliant all round
party music DJ, Master MC, with crew members DJ Ricky and for the seventh
year running our gorgeous female DJ Lady Misstify (House & Garage)
providing the core of the entertainment, with Rapattack's surprise celebrity
guest artists and DJ friends, as well as the breaking of new talented
singers and P.A's from Major recording artistes and Rapattack's associate
A.K.A production label waiting in the wings. (A&R people watch out).
Carnival
Music Policy
Rapattack started out as a 100% soul/funk DJ outfit which today has developed
into one of the most well known names in the British Club/Dance &
music industry being able to specialise & cater for all ages &
various musical tastes, including Soul, Jazz, Oldskool Hip-hop (early
rap), U.K. & U.S. Garage amongst many others. However, Rapattack's
claim to fame is due mainly to what we can only describe as the 'party
style', which is a mixture of classic soul, funk and popular dance tracks
ranging from the 70's to the present day. i.e. everything from James Brown
to current hits by the likes of Akon. With this vast amount of musical
knowledge and expertise to hand, it's no wonder why Rapattack are continuously
chosen to provide DJ's and sound systems for corporate clients & public
as well as private parties, weddings & events.
